AmeriCorps Summer ERI Members

We are looking for two people to give their time and talent to help support our summer youth programming (June 6 – August 14). One member will work with our Zoo School and one will work with our Zoo Camp. AmeriCorps members must be interested in working with children, working around animals, and be willing to work outside for most of the day.

ERI Member Perks:
– A stipend of $750 every two weeks
– Individual health insurance (monthly premium 100% paid)
– An additional $1,311 for tuition or student loans

Literacy Tutor – Minnesota Reading Corps

Make a difference in your community and join our team as a reading tutor for the 2021-2022 school year. Lake Superior Zoo Preschool is looking for reading tutors to give their time and talent to help our kids become successful readers and learners. Tutors work one-on-one or in small groups with students during school hours throughout the school year. No matter if you’re a recent grad, career changer, stay-at-home parent or retiree, you can make a great tutor. No experience? No problem. Minnesota Reading Corps provides comprehensive training in strategies proven to help students learn, so tutors are well equipped to help students grow.

Perks as A Tutor
– Receive a stipend every two weeks
– Earn up to $4,441 for college tuition or student loans. Tutors 55 and older may gift the award to their child, grandchild, stepchild or foster child.
– Free health insurance and child care assistance for those who qualify

Internship Program

Are you a college student looking for experience in captive husbandry management or education?

The goal of the Lake Superior Zoo Student Internship Program is to provide pre-professional, on-site experience for students interested in captive husbandry management or environmental education.

Animal Care Internship

Animal care interns will assist animal care staff in a variety of tasks including basic husbandry and cleaning, diet preparation, enrichment, and keeper chats.
