Zoo extending closure through May 1, 2020 to comply with Governor Walz’s emergency executive order help slow the spread of COVID-19.
Effective Wednesday, March 18, the Lake Superior Zoo will be temporarily closed to the public through April 30 in accordance with our Level 3 Response to COVID-19 and government orders.
This decision was made after careful consideration and out of an abundance of caution to keep our staff, visitors, volunteers and animals safe. As the situation evolves and decisions are made about extending the closure or re-opening, we will continue to post updates here on our website and social media.
Educational programs, Zoomobiles, day camps, keeper chats, and special events are cancelled for the next eight weeks. This is in accordance with recommendations from the CDC and other government entities.
Current construction projects will continue as planned – stay tuned for progress updates!
The Zoo’s animal family will continue to be cared for by our dedicated animal care staff during this time. We will also be posting on our social media accounts sharing behind-the-scenes photos and videos so you can still stay connected with us and your favorite animal friends!
We have a busy spring and summer planned at the zoo and an ongoing schedule of education programs! We will continue to monitor the situation and hope to reactivate our programming in the near future.
Thank you for your continued support of the Lake Superior Zoo. Stay safe.
