About Zoo Troop

Ages 6-8

Whether you embark on “Animal Adventures” or become a “Zookeeper for a Week,” all of these 4-day camps include exciting games and activities, art projects, and close-up animal encounters.

Zoo Troop Camp sessions run for four days (Monday-Thursday). Morning sessions start at 9:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 noon. You can add an afternoon camp to your morning camp for an all-day session. All-day sessions are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All-day campers should bring a bag lunch or plan to purchase lunch at the Safari Café.

Zoo Troop camps are designed for children who have completed grades K-2.

Cost:

  • Half Day for 4 days:
    $84 Members | $104 Non-Members
  • All Day for 4 days:
    $184 Members | $224 Non-Members
  • Camp t-shirts are optional and cost an additional $10 during check out. Each week of camp has the same t-shirt design.
  • If a camp is full, you can join the waiting list through the online registration process.

Scholarships: Need-based scholarships are available for children ages 6-8 in Zoo Troop camps, thanks to the Northland Foundation. Please download and complete a Scholarship Request Form — do not register online. Spaces are held in each camp for scholarship recipients until April 30, 2021 or funding runs out. Minnesota residents only.

Zookeeper for a Week

June 14-17, 2021 | 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon

Get a behind-the-scenes peek at animal care and enrichment as you experience what it’s like to be a zookeeper for a week!

Animal Olympics

Afternoon add-on option (must be enrolled in morning camp to add this camp)
June 14-17, 2021 | 12:00-4:00 p.m.
This camp is full but spots are available for those who qualify for a scholarship.

Explore how animals jump, slither, and fly into the record books while accomplishing amazing feats! Challenge yourself in fun kid vs. animal competitions!


Pet Pals

June 21-24, 2021 | 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon
This camp is full but spots are available for those who qualify for a scholarship.

Learn about pet care while helping take care of the zoo’s animals. Create toys for your pets and learn training tricks that will help you and your pet bond for life!

Animal Adventures

From the tropics to the deserts, we’ll adventure through the animal kingdom to learn about animals that live all over the world!

July 12-15, 2021 | 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. (All Day)

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Travel to the top of the food chain as we explore the lives of the world’s best hunters and how we care for them at the zoo.


Zookeeper for a Week

July 19-22, 2021 | 1:00-4:00 p.m.
This camp is full but spots are available for those who qualify for a scholarship.
(No morning/all-day option available this week)

Get a behind-the-scenes peek at animal care and enrichment as you experience what it’s like to be a zookeeper for a week!


Magical Beasts

August 2-5, 2021 | 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon
This camp is full but spots are available for those who qualify for a scholarship.

Take a magical journey with dragons, unicorns and other creatures from your favorite tales, and learn about the real animals that inspired them.

Where the Wild Things Are

Afternoon add-on option (must be enrolled in morning camp to add this camp)
August 2-5, 2021 | 12:00-4:00 p.m.
This camp is full but spots are available for those who qualify for a scholarship.

Meet many of the zoo’s wild things while also exploring the creek and trails for wild things you can find in your own backyard!
